Jamaican poet and singer-songwriter D’Yani has announced his highly anticipated forthcoming album Live Life & Prosper to drop on August 21, enticing fans with what’s to come from the 12-track album as he releases his latest single “Miss You Bad,” out everywhere now.
Decota Letman of Roots Global Agency, told Caribbean Life recently, that there would be a follow-up to “Journey,” the uplifting single released in June alongside a live acoustic choir session that premiered exclusively on the GRAMMY Global Spin platform. “Miss You Bad” reveals a more vulnerable and romantic side of D’Yani.
According to Letman, D’Yani’s sultry, soul-soaked record pairs rich live instrumentation with his intoxicatingly raspy vocals as he explores the ache of longing and the emotional pull of unresolved love. Rooted in lovers rock while drawing from reggae, soul, and subtle R&B influences, the song captures the quiet tension of missing someone who still holds your heart, even when you know they’re not meant for you. The accompanying visual brings that emotional push and pull to life through a sensual portrayal of love, distance, and desire, said Letman.
He said D’Yani has evolved from an emerging talent into a headline act across some of the Caribbean’s biggest stages and festivals, including Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival, Reggae Sumfest, Intimate Concert, Lost In Time, St. Kitts Music Festival, Barbados Reggae Weekend, and City Splash Festival.
“My intention for the song was to capture the emotional pain of missing someone so deeply that their absence feels like withdrawal from an addictive substance. Through its repeated references to being “hooked,” craving a “high,” and “relapsing,” it portrays an unhealthy attachment where love becomes a dependency rather than a source of comfort,” said D’Yani according to Letman, adding
“Despite knowing the attachment is unhealthy, there is an overwhelming desire to return, making the emotions feel both heartbreaking and relatable. Overall, I try to paint a powerful picture of love, obsession, vulnerability, and the struggle between wanting to let go and being unable to break free from an emotional bond,” said the release.
“With “Miss You Bad,” D’Yani continues to establish himself as one of contemporary reggae’s most compelling new voices, blending lovers rock, reggae, soul, and heartfelt storytelling into music that explores love, vulnerability, faith, and personal growth,” Letman said. “As anticipation builds for Live Life & Prosper, the Jamaican singer-songwriter offers another captivating glimpse into the depth and artistry that define his next chapter.”
The artist who blends soulful storytelling with modern sounds, with music delivers a fresh, honest, and emotional take on Reggae and Dancehall.
“D’yani emerged on the Jamaican music scene in 2022 following the COVID era, quickly capturing attention with “Feelings (Remix)” featuring Jada Kingdom and establishing himself as the newest heartthrob in Jamaican music. He continued building momentum with singles such as “Señorita,” “Goddess,” “Birthday,” “Lock and Key,” and “Ride It”.
“Another major step in his career came when D’yani linked with Kareem “Remus” Burrell of XTM.Nation to create “Live A Little,” the breakout record that significantly elevated his profile internationally,” said Letman.
